European Union (EU) has commissioned a grant of 3 Million Euros to the Maldives in fighting Covid-19.
In a statement by EU, the Union said that out of the 3 Million, one million would be allocated for the health sector of the country, while the other two would be dedicated for the tourism industry, which is suffering immensely due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid thanked the EU for the generous donation and highlighted the strong bond between the Maldives and EU, mentioning that this grant would help in stabilizing the health sector of the country as well as the economy.
While EU has decided to grant Maldives 3 Million Euros, World Bank has also commissioned a grant of 7.3 Million dollars to the Maldives.
