California, United States — Kanye West launched a campaign for the 2020 US presidential election with an unorthodox rally in California.

The rapper, designer and former Trump supporter launched a surprise campaign on Sunday and had broken down into tears while talking at the rally for November’s presidential elections.

The 43 year old gave an hour-long rambling speech in which he ranted about abortion and pornography, and argued policy with attendees while wearing a bullet-proof jacket marked “security” and with 2020 shaved onto the back of his head.

At a wedding and convention venue in Charleston, South Carolina, West told the audience of how he wanted his wife, reality star, Kim Kardashian to get an abortion when she was pregnant with their eldest daughter, North. He then revealed his father also had wanted to abort him.

“My dad wanted to abort me. My mum saved my life. There would’ve been no Kanye West because my dad was too busy,” West said, bursting into tears.

He later shouted, “I almost killed my daughter! I almost killed my daughter!”

However, he then added that he believes that abortion should remain legal, but there should be financial support for struggling new mothers. West suggested that “everybody that has a baby gets a million dollars”.

During the speech West often appeared to be putting forward policy proposals on the fly, and even made comments that left even those in attendance muttering in disbelief.

“Harriet Tubman never actually freed the slaves, she just had the slaves go work for other white people,” he said at one point when he was talking about economic inequality.

He also talked about his late mother who passed away in 2007 from complications during cosmetic surgery and became tearful while talking.

The 43 year old rapper will be running as a candidate for his self-styled “Birthday Party”.
