Fuvahmulah, Maldives – The first reported case of Covid-19 has been recorded in Fuvahmulah City.
Deputy Director General of Health Protection Agency (HPA) confirmed that an individual who completed home quarantine in the island city has tested positive for the virus. The test was administered as part of the standard operating procedure where every individual coming out of home quarantine gets tested.
HPA has revealed that the individual was a 26 year old female from the island and that contact tracing would be carried out as per protocol
This is not the first time an individual has tested positive for Covid-19 following the completion of home quarantine in Maldives. Due to this, travel in an out of Male’ has been restricted to a need only basis, as an attempt to curb the number of Covid-19 patients in the country.
