Covid-19: Two new cases in Ihavandhoo

HA. Ihavandhoo, Maldives – Two people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Haa Alif atoll Ihavandhoo.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that the two individuals who tested positive for the coronavirus are crew members of a boat named “Thahuthu” of the island. Both individuals are expatriates.

A total of 41 samples were taken from the island following crew members testing positive for the virus initially, out of which the two Bangladeshi nationals tested positive.

As Maldives sees a spike in the number of Covid-19 cases in the country, with 86 new cases on Thursday alone, the virus is slowly taking over the entire country, spreading out from the central Male’ region.

With the new cases, the total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in the country has gone up to 4,680.
