Male’, Maldives – Maldives Health Professionals Union has raised concerns over 28 nurses not having have received their salaries for the past two months.
MHPU revealed on Friday that the 28 expatriate nurses have not received the salaries of June and July, and requested relevant authorities to arrange for the wages to be paid as soon as possible, highlighting that it is very concerning, that such a delay has occurred.
While no official institutions have commented on the matter, complaints of front line workers not receiving their due wages for the service provided during the pandemic had alone arisen recently.
However, the government has since started distributing the allowances during the end of July. According to Ministry of Finance and Treasury, more MVR 2.9 million has been given out as allowances for front line workers, which amounts to 220 front line workers.Photo
