Florida, United States — Dwayne Johnson has been announced as the highest-paid male actor in the world.
For the second time in a row, Dwayne Johnson, commonly known as “The Rock” has been named the highest-paid male actor, according to wealth magazine Forbes.
The former wrestler reportedly earned $87.5 million (£67 million) between 1 June 2019 and 1 June 2020. His earning of $23.5 million from the Netflix thriller Red Notice was included as well. Johnson also made profit from Project Rock, his fitness clothing line.
According to Forbes, The top 10 earners had earned $545.5 million over the year. This is more than a quarter of that from Netflix.
The co-star of Johnson on his film Red Notice, Ryan Reynolds was named as the second highest-paid male actor with earnings of $71.5 million. Johnson earned $20 million for each of his Netflix movies, Red Notice and Six Underground.
Third on the list of highest-paid male actors was actor and producer Mark Wahlberg, who earned $58 million. Ben Affleck was fourth on the list and Vin Diesel the fifth.
The only Bollywood actor who managed to be in the top 10 highest-paid male actor was the famous Indian actor, Akshay Kumar. He came in sixth place with earnings of $48.5 million. According to Forbes, most of Kumar’s earnings came from product endorsement deals.
The rest of the actors on the list were Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, actors Will Smith and Adam Sandler, and veteran movie star Jackie Chan.
The announcement of the highest-paid female actors for the same period will be released as a seperate list later on.
The highest-paid female actress last year was Scarlett Johansson with an income of $56 million.
