Male’, Maldives – Parliamentarians have initiated the process of taking a no confidence vote against the Economic Minister of Maldives, Fayyaz Ismail.

Speaking to local news outlet “adduLIVE”, an MP who wished to stay anonymous revealed that several MPs have begun the process of initiating a no confidence vote against the cabinet minister and that MP of Medhu Henveyru constituency and leader of the Parliamentary Group of MDP, Ali Azim is the law maker who initiated the process.

The MP also revealed that while only 10 signatures of MPs are required to initiate the process, a total of 22 signs have already been collected by the group. However, 43 votes of the Parliament will be required to declare that an MP has lost the confidence of the Parliament.

While rumours went around that MP Ali Azim had previously attempted to have a no confidence vote taken against Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof, Ali Azim stepped up to deny the allegations. However, Azim is yet to comment on the matter of Minister Fayyaz.
