Maldives records the 28th Covid-19 death

Malé, Maldives —  HPA has confirmed the death of the 28th person who died in Maldives due to the virus, Covid-19.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) tweeted that the deceased was an 73-year-old Maldivian male. According to HPA, the male passed away while receiving care for the virus Covid-19, at HMF when he passed away. This is the 28th Covid-related death in Maldives

Therefore, up to date, a total of 28 people have passed away due to the virus in Maldives. The deceased are 22 elderly Maldivian nationals, 5 Bangladeshi nationals and a Filipino national.

While a total of 6,912 people have been confirmed for the virus in Maldives, 4,297 people have completely recovered from it up to date. Currently there are 2,588 active Covid-19 cases in Maldives.

Today itself 133 people were confirmed for the virus in Maldives. They were 103 Maldivians, 15 Bangladeshis, 08 Indians, 02 British, 02 Sri Lankan, 02 Emiratis and 01 Nepali.

Since the lock-down was eased in Maldives, there has been a surge in the number of confirmed cases. While the majority of the confirmed cases initially were of Foreign nationals, it has now changed to Maldivian nationals since the lock-down easement on the capital city Malé. The recovery rate of Maldives has decreased from 86% to 62% since the lock-down easement.
