7,628 tourist arrivals recorded in August

Male’, Maldives – Maldives Immigration has revealed that a total of 7628 tourists arrived into the country during the month of August.

According to the statistics published by Immigration, 373 tourists arrived to the Maldives per day on average during August, as opposed to 218 tourists per day during the previous month.

UAE, UK and USA have contributed to the highest numbers of arrivals with 1627 visitors from UAE, while 715 tourists came from the UK, with 674 tourist arrivals being recorded from the USA.

According to the guidelines of tourist arrivals, all visitors would be subjected to symptom checks including fever and any symptomatic individual must undergo testing, of which the cost must be borne by the tourist. Any symptomatic individual traveling with a group, will result in the entire group being tested. While some tourists may also be subject to random testing, this cost will be borne by the state. All treatment for Covid-19 will also be done at the cost of Maldives.

Currently, there are 16 tourists and 29 employees who have tested positive for the coronavirus in the Maldives at 16 different resorts.
