Male’, Maldives – A man has been arrested for calling to burn the President of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on a programme broadcasted by Channel 13.
Maldives Police Service confirmed the arrest, revealing that the arrested individual was a 47 year old male. However, police refrained from detailing the island from which the arrest was made.
Police are now investigating the matter, and so is Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC).
Channel 13 has since made a statement apologizing for the comments broadcasted via the channel, and reassured that the individual’s comments were of his own, and in no way reflected the sentiments of the channel and its personnel.
