Male’, Maldives – Finance Ministry of Maldives has revealed that MVR 59.1 million has been distributed as income support allowance so far, for those whose income was affected due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the statistics published by the ministry, a total of 14,105 people have received the allowance at the rate of MVR 5,000 per month, by the end of this Thursday.
This allowance is distributed under special guidelines, to those who meet a certain criteria. Currently, the second round of granting allowances is underway, during which allowances will be distributed among those whose employment have been affected during the months of July, August and September.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development, any individual who has had to undergo loss of employment or change in pay since December of 2019, may apply for the allowance. The Ministry urges such candidates to register and send in the applications as soon as possible through the Job Center’s online portal.
