JUST IN: Multiple Covid-19 cases among Addu Police Academy workers in quarantine

Addu City, Maldives – Multiple cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed among the Indian workers of Addu Police Academy who arrived in Addu City via Cochin.

While the total number of cases is yet to be cleared, Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH0 has confirmed that several cases have been recorded from the 128 samples which were collected on Tuesday. AEH Manager Sharaf Saadhaath said that the total number would be determined after 14:00 on Wednesday and that some samples are still being tested.

The expatriate, who completed the 14 day mandatory travel related quarantine were place placed in Dhoogas Quarantine Facility during their stay here. It is unknown whether all 128 individuals would have to undergo additional quarantine time due to this development. Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC) revealed that this would be determined after contact tracing efforts, based in the contact and quarantine arrangements.

India has recorded more than 6.23 million cases of Covid-19 til date, being the country with the highest number of Covid-19 cases next to America.
