Hulhumalé, Maldives — A bridge linking phase I and phase II of the reclaimed suburb area of Hulhumalé has been opened to the general public.
Housing Development Corporation (HDC) stated that the aforementioned decision was taken after considering the difficulties faced during entering and exiting the area faced by the residents who will be living in the newly built residential building in Phase II.
However, HDC noted that although the bridge and some areas nearby the bridge have been opened to the public, the permission of HDC will still be required to access the remaining parts of Phase II. The corporation had also requested those who use the beach area of Phase II to adhere to the regulations in the area.
270 hectares of land was reclaimed in Hulhumalé in 2017, for the purpose of developing the second phase of suburbs in the area, While four bridges linking to the two phases are currently being built, special lanes are provided for the vehicles and pedestrians.
