Male’, Maldives – Finance Ministry of Maldives has revealed that till now, MVR 96.4 million has been given as income support allowance to those whose income was affected by Covid-19.
As per the statistics publicized by the Ministry, till the 1st of this October, 8,648 people were given a total of MVR 96.4 million as an income support allowance, of which, each person received MVR 5,000 per month.
The income support allowance is given under certain regulations, and to those who meet a specific criteria. The second round of allowance distribution for this year includes the allowance for July, August and September. As per the regulations set for giving this allowance, it will be given to those who had a negative impact on their jobs starting from December 1st 2019. Economic Ministry urges anyone who falls under this category to register themselves at the Job Center of the Ministry/
In addition to this, people who had a decrease in salary due to Covid-19, those on non-pay leave and those who have been terminated from their jobs are also included in the category to receive this allowance.
