Malé, Maldives — HPA announces additional 50 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 50 recoveries over the past 24 hours.
HPA disclosed that, between 6pm of October 12th, and 6pm of October 13th, additional 50 people were confirmed for the virus in Maldives. They are:
- 48 Maldivians
- 02 Foreigners
While 50 of the confirmed 46 cases were recorded from the greater Malé area, the remaining 04 were from the atolls of Maldives.
With these 50 cases that were confirmed over the past 24 hours, Maldives now has a total of 10,993 confirmed Covid-19 cases, reaching closer to 11,000. However, currently among these cases, there are only 1,118 active cases present in the Maldives.
Easing the lock-down measures in the Capital of Maldives, Malé city, has contributed a lot in increasing the number of confirmed cases in Maldives, contributing to over 90% of total cases. While the majority of the confirmed cases were initially of foreign nationals, the lock-down easement on the capital city Malé, resulted in having a large proportion of Maldivian nationals confirming positive for the virus.
However, the number of cases is now decreasing, as the peak appears to have tipped for the better. In addition to this, the number of recoveries in Maldives has also increased by a great extent.

- Lh. Naifaru: 01 case
- AA. Thoddu: 01 case
- Adh. Maamigili: 01 case
- F. Nilandhoo: 01 case
- Th. Veymandoo: 01 case
- Th. Madifushi: 01 case
- L. Gan: 03 case
- L. Kahdhoo: 58 cases
- Ga. Kanduhulhudhoo: 01 case

While 50 people tested positive for the virus today, 50 people has also completely recovered from the virus over the past 24 hours according to HPA. Along with these 50 recoveries, the recovery cases in Maldives has now reached 9,883. The recovery rate has increased rapidly from less than 60% to 89% over the past few days.
Up to date, 35 people have passed away from Covid-19 in Maldives. The deceased are 29 elderly Maldivian nationals, 5 Bangladeshi nationals and a Filipino national.
Currently there are 384 people in the isolation facilities of Maldives and 67 people are currently hospitalized due to the virus.
