Malé, Maldives – A deceased man has been found in the lagoon area near Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) of Male’ City, the capital of Maldives.
Maldives Police Service revealed that reports regarding the matter were received at around 10:40 on Friday, after a group of divers in the area discovered the body.
The body was transferred to IGMH, where the individual was pronounced dead. However as doctors were not able to determine whether the individual died of natural causes, the body has been transferred to a mortuary pending an autopsy.
In order to find out any information regarding the circumstances surrounding the death of the individual, Maldives Police Service has also issued a statement requesting the public to come forward with any information that they might have with regards to the matter. Police also stated that any individuals who were near the Rasfannu Beach area between 09:00 and 12:00 of Friday are requested to contact the Police at 119, or the Serious And Organized Crime (SOC) department, 9911099.
As the issue is being investigated by authorities, no further information has been made available as of now.
