Malé, Maldives – Health Protection Agency (HPA) announces additional 26 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 29 recoveries over the past 24 hours.
HPA disclosed that, between 6pm of November 3rd, and 6pm of November 4th, additional 26 people were confirmed for the virus in Maldives. They are:
- 21 Maldivians
- 05 Foreigners
21 of the confirmed 26 cases were recorded from the greater Malé area and the remaining 05 were from the atolls of Maldives.
With these cases that were confirmed over the past 24 hours, Maldives now has a total of 11,822 confirmed Covid-19 cases. However, currently among these cases, there are only 786 active cases present in the Maldives.
Easing the lock-down measures in the Capital of Maldives, Malé city, has contributed a lot in increasing the number of confirmed cases in Maldives, contributing to over 90% of total cases. While the majority of the confirmed cases were initially of foreign nationals, the lock-down easement on the capital city Malé, resulted in having a large proportion of Maldivian nationals confirming positive for the virus.
However, the number of cases is now decreasing, as the peak appears to have tipped for the better. In addition to this, the number of recoveries in Maldives has also increased by a great extent.
The islands and resorts that have active cases outside of the Malé city according to HPA are:
- Ha. Kelaa: 01 case
- Hdh. Hanimaadhoo: 01 case
- Hdh. Neykurendhoo: 01 case

While 26 people tested positive for the virus today, 29 people have completely recovered from the virus over the past 24 hours according to HPA. Along with these 29 recoveries, the total recoveries has now reached 10,991. The recovery rate has increased rapidly from less than 60% to 92% over the past month.
Up to date, 38 people have passed away from Covid-19 in Maldives. The deceased are 32 elderly Maldivian nationals, 5 Bangladeshi nationals and a Filipino national. Currently there are 185 people in the isolation facilities of Maldives and 52 people are currently hospitalized due to the virus.
