Random samples to be collected in Huraa

Huraa, Maldives – Following a tourist staying at a local guest house in K. Huraa testing positive, health authorities have decided to carry out random sampling in the island.

In a statement released by the Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC), the tourist, who arrived in Maldives from Russia, it has been revealed that the tourist has now been transferred to isolation in the same guesthouse as the tourist was staying at, but in an area inaccessible to other tourists and staff members. He is also reportedly doing well as of now.

Since then authorities have also concluded contact tracing and have placed all direct contacts of the individual in quarantine as well.

As an added precaution, random sampling will take place today at guest houses, restaurants, shops, and other general service outlets, authorities revealed.

Further, all current residents in the island are urged to take all advised safety and precautionary measures such as frequent hand washing, social distancing and wearing masks at all times.
