Malé, Maldives — MVR 150,000 has been donated to the Cancer Society of Maldives (CSM) by the Bank of Maldives (BML), to help the center increase Breast Cancer Awareness.

On November 08, BML tweeted to announcing the donation to support Cancer Society’s ‘Pink Ribbon Run-Walk’ campaign, which is any annually held event.

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, CSM revealed that this year’s campaign will be held through an online platform.

This campaign is held by CSM to raise more awareness about breast cancer and to promote an active lifestyle in Maldives.

While the donation hand over ceremony was held at the BML’s Head Office, BML tweeted revealing that after the donations, the CEO and Managing Director of BML, Tim Sawyer met with the Cancer Society’s team to have a discussion about Breast Cancer Awareness.

The meeting was held in participations of several cancer survivors and patients as well. During the meeting, inspirational stories of strength, hope and courage were discussed to encourage and support the cancer patients.

According to the Cancer Society, in 2019, a total of 52 breast cancer surgeries were performed in Maldives and until now in 2020, a total of 34 surgeries have been recorded.
