Male’, Maldives – Speaker of Parliament and Former President Mohamed Nasheed has told that the path for next year was very clear from the speech given by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih during the ceremony held to celebrate the 52nd Republic Day of Maldives.
During the presidents address to the country, President Solih had promised numerous projects for 2021 and gave highlights of such projects which have been planned and budgeted. President had highlighted that projects had gotten slower than expected due to the Covid-19 pandemic this year but that next years projects have been carefully planned with the economic strength of the country in mind.
In a tweet posted by Speaker Nasheed, he had wished all Maldivians on the occasion of the Republic Day and stated that people hopes would have been lifted by the presidents speech yesterday morning. He also stated that by the grace of Allah that the plans would be fulfilled.
According to the presidents speech, almost all the sectors have major projects planned including healthcare development, water and sewage projects for all the remaining islands without it, educational infrastructure and human capital development. In addition to this the president also highlighted that projects to develop the agricultural and fisheries industry of the country would be prioritized in order to lower the national dependence on tourism alone.
