Covid-19: One new positive case recorded in Addu City

Addu City, Maldives – One new Covid-19 case has been record in the southernmost atoll of Maldives, Addu City.

Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH) confirmed today that a 32 year old male expatriate in Addu City has tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.

Luckily the confirmed case was from an individual who was home quarantined at Gan in Addu City. Despite this, HEOC informed that they have carried out contact tracing of the individual.

Till date, the city has confirmed a total of 75 Covid-19 cases including today’s case. So far, all of the individuals who tested positive for the virus have completely recovered from it.

The high numbers in the city were contributed to, by the Indian expatriates who arrived from Cochin to Addu City to work at the area being developed as a Police training academy, who tested positive while in quarantine.

While 83 expatriates arrived from India and were quarantined in Dhoogas in Gan, 56 had confirmed positive for the virus. However, eventually all the patients successfully recovered from the virus.
