Male’, Maldives – MP of Eydhafushi Constituency and leader of PPM Parlimentry Group Ahmed Saleem said that Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed cried out of happiness the day Yaameen was sentenced after being proven guilty of money laundering.

MP Saleem, or more commonly known as Redwave Saleem made the statements at a press conference yesterday afternoon following remarks from Speaker Nasheed saying that he cried on the day Yaameen was sentenced and said that leaders of the opposition being jailed is not something he enjoys or wishes to happen.

That is not something I glorify and run around celebrating with fireworks. You might recall that people had put up fireworks, singing, dancing and distributing flowers when I was sentenced. But it was an upsetting moment when Yameen was sentenced. I cried. It is not something I wish for.
