Maldives wins Best International Island Holiday Destination award

Male’, Maldives – Maldives has been awarded as the  “Best International Island Holiday Destination” of 2020 by the International Travel Awards organized by KSA Tourism Marketing & PR Company.

The “Best International Island Holiday Destination” title has been given to Maldives after over 100,000 international travelers and tourism industry professionals voted to select the winners out of multiple countries around the world.

The Managing Director of Visit Maldives, Mr. Thoyyib Mohamed said that the country is immensely grateful for the recognition received by International Travel Awards.

Our team and the entire tourism industry have been working towards making Maldives one of the safest and most preferred destinations to travel to this year, and these tributes are proof of our success.

The dedicated judges chosen by the KSA Tourism Marketing & PR Company by considering their experience, skills and enthusiasm necessary to select, promote and showcase participating hotels on an international scale.

A winner of the International Travel Awards receives an ample of marketing and branding opportunities worldwide helping the country or resort become more successful by receiving international recognition.

Although Maldives has faced several challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Tourism Ministry has been proactively doing various activities and taking measures to promote tourism in the country including promotional events and high safety standards in the tourism sector to prevent spreading of Covid-19 virus in the resorts and other tourist facilities. 

Due to this, the country has welcomed over 500,000 tourists even during th Covid-19 pandemic. For such a remarkable achievement and due to the safety measures and precautions in the country to curb the spread of COVID-19 the country has received multiple highly honored awards from different companies.

Maldives also got certified as a “Safe Travel” destination which is safe for tourists to travel to in September. This stamp is provided to countries which are the safest with regards to Covid-19.

Only a negative PCR test not exceeding 96 hours is necessary to enter Maldives, and travelers of every nationality are offered a free tourist visa of 30 days on arrival. Split stays among exclusive tourist resorts, guesthouses on local islands and safaris.
