Maldivian’s seaplane becomes first ever airplane to land in Maliku

Maliku, India — The seaplane of the national airline of Maldives, Maldivian becomes the first ever seaplane or even airplane to land in Maliku, an island in Lakshadweep, India.

Maldivian airline tweeted to inform that the their seaplane made a quick stop to Maliku on their charter trip to Ahmedabad in India. As this is the first time an airplane landed in Maliku in the history of time, the Maldivian airline has been celebrating this extraordinary achievement throughout their social media.

The photos shared by the airline showed that the authorities of Maliku had created a temporary seaplane terminal for the seaplane to land on.

Maliku is generally known as Minicoy and is a part of Lakshadweep archipelago that is under the territory of India. The islands culture is extremely similar to Maldives and they also use the national and official language of the Republic of Maldives, Dhivehi.

While India and Maldives have been strengthening diplomatic relations since the administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih came on to power, the Maldivian airline had also assisted in launching India’s first seaplane operations this year as well.
