First Covid vaccine shipment to arrive this month: Health Minister

Malé, Maldives — The Health Minister of Maldives, Ahmed Naseem informed that the first Covid-19 vaccine shipment is expected to arrive this month.

While speaking at an interview, Minister Naseem stated that Maldives has signed an agreement with AstraZeneca vaccine of Singapore and that the first shipment of the vaccine is expected to arrive this month.

We will get the first covid vaccine shipment this month, but we are not sure of company it will be from.

Minister Naseem informed.

According to Minister Naseem, the Foreign Ministry is working on bringing vaccines of several companies. The Minister informed that they have already signed agreements with COVAX of WHO and several other companies as well.

We will get vaccine from COVAX along with other companies that we ordered from as well. Now we have also ordered from AstraZeneca vaccine.

Minister Naseem stated.

Minister Naseem mentioned that they are not sure of when the first shipment will arrive or how much vaccine will be in it, but he said that there is high hope for the advanced shipment to arrive this month.

Minister Naseem noted that the vaccines will first be given to the frontliners as mentioned earlier and later to the citizens.
