Addu City, Maldives — The Maldives State Shipping (MSS) has informed that the cargo vessel MV Bonthi providing services between Tuticorin of India and the southernmost atoll of Maldives, Addu City has brought a 60 percent increase of private cargo compared to the first voyage.
The Managing Director of MSS, Abdullah Saeed informed that several business owners have praised the second cargo trip of Tuticorin-Addu as it brought 60 percent increase of goods the second time compared to its first voyage.
On its second voyage, MV Bonthi carried 3,500 MT of cargo with 08 consignments of private business including a reefer container of a cargo to a private party. MMS noted that the goods brought to Addu this time mostly consisted of fruits and vegetables along with eggs and frozen products.
Cargo ferry services between Addu City and Tuticorin began on December 10 and is scheduled to make a trip in every 20 days. The ferry used by MSS is an MV Bonthi 2 which can carry a total of 2,719 tonnes of cargo.
