Fulfill individual responsibilities to avoid another lockdown: Dr. Ali

Male’, Maldives — Physician of Internal Medicine, Dr. Mohamed Ali advices the citizens to fulfill their individual responsibilities to avoid facing another lockdown in Maldives.

While the number of daily confirmed Covid-19 cases and active cases were considerably low in late 2020, the cases have been rising rapidly by going over 50 cases in a day. The active cases in Maldives have also surpassed thousand after months, taking a turn in the 94% recovery rate the country has been holding.

Dr. Ali tweeted regarding this and reminded that the world has been facing one lockdown after another and all citizens must learn from the Covid-19 situation other countries are experiencing.

Dr. Ali stressed that Maldives cannot afford another curfew and that the citizens have already suffered massively due to the lockdown. This is why, he reminded that it is the responsibility of each citizen to save the country from the vulnerable state it is in.

Dr. Ali adviced all individuals to adhere to the Covid-19 precautions given by the Health Protection Agency (HPA). He told the citizens to wash their hands, maintain social distancing and to wear masks not just for the sake of doing it, but to do it wholeheartedly.

Till date, Maldives has confirmed upto 14, 885 Covid-19 cases of which 1,105 cases remain active. While the recovery rate of Maldives is currently at 92%, the mortality rate is at 0.34%.
