Covid-19: 6 people in ICU, 2 on ventilators

Malé, Maldives – The Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC) has informed that currently there are six Covid-19 patients who are receiving care at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and two individuals in ventilators.

While speaking at a press conference held last night, the spokesperson of HEOC, Dr. Nazla Rafeeg informed that out of the 1,644 active Covid-19 cases in Maldives, there are currently 163 people admitted and receiving care for the virus at the hospitals.

Dr. Nazla informed that out of these 163 people, six people are at the ICU of Dharumavantha hospital and two in ventilators as their condition is more critical than the remaining Covid-19 patients.

Dr. Nazla informed that there are 147 individuals receiving care for the virus at a medical facility in Hulhumale’, one patient at a Covid facility in GA. Villingili and one patient at the Covid-19 facility in L. Gan as well. Dr. Nazla noted that there are currently two people admitted at the Covid-19 facility in Fuvahmulah City.

Till date, Maldives has confirmed over 15,000 Covid-19 cases since May 2020, when the Covd-19 outbreak took place in the country. Only 14,139 people have completely recovered from the virus and 1,644 are still receiving care for the virus. The Covid-19 death toll of Maldives is at 52.
