Addu City, Maldives – Health protection Agency has put Addu City under monitoring status until further notice.

This comes after two Maldivians tested positive to Covid-19 after testing from the flu clinic in Hithadhoo.

As per the announcement, all travel to and from the city has been banned until further notice. Any essential travel, must also be authorized in writing by the Social Support Desk (SSD) of Addu.

These cases come after 24 people tested positive from the MTCC worksite in Hulhumeedhoo. On February 4, 2021 Hulhumeedhoo Health Center cofirmed that that four expatriates tested positive for Covid-19 from the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) site located in the island. Further testing of the people revealed a total of 24 positive cases from this cluster.

Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo, collectively sometimes called Hulhumeedhoo, were placed under monitoring status on Thursday, after four individuals who were not in quarantine tested positive from the MTCC site. This comes one week after two positive cases were recorded from the same site, however, from quarantine.
