Addu City, Maldives – Addu City Council has instructed fishing vessels to get approval from the respective island’s Social Support Desk (SSD) before departure.

In their statement, the council refer to the Health Protection Agency guidelines as the Addu City has been placed under monitoring status with the likelihood of a community spread, they informed that starting from today, 9 February 2021, the district SSDs will provide the required release orders for fishing vessel departure.

The vessels are required to provide the vessel registration, date of departure and estimated date of arrival to the SSD. Only vessels with a document from SSD with release orders are to be allowed to depart for fishing.

Fishing vessels that departed the City before the monitoring status are also required to reach out to the respective SSD and receive a permission for arrival.
