TMA cabin crew arrested over charges of theft

Malé, Maldives – A cabin crew of Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) has been arrested for stealing USD 3000 from a tourist travelling on board the aircraft.

According to local media outlet “Vaguthu”, the tourist was travelling to Landaagiraavaru resort. The media reported that the money was stolen from the tourist’s bad while it was placed in the back of the aircraft.

An anonymous source reported to Vaguthu, that the tourist filed a case of missing USD 3000 when the TMA aircraft left. The case was reported to the captain following which the crew’s bags were searched. The missing money was discovered from one of the crew’s bad during this search.

The police media official told local media Vaguthu that the case of missing USD 3000 reported by a tourist travelling to a resort in B.Atoll being found in the bad of a cabin crew was reported to the police last Tuesday. The official added that the accused 21 year old has been arrested under court orders and has remanded for five days. The case is further being investigated by the police.
