BREAKING: Maldives records second Covid-19 death in 24hrs

Malé, Maldives – Health Protection Agency (HPA) has informed of the second Covid-19 death in the past 24hrs.

A 59 year old Maldivian woman was taken to the IGMH Emergency in an unresponsive state was declared dead at 03:46.

This is the 58th COVID-19 death in the Maldives.

Earlier today, HPA confirmed that a 78-year-old Maldivian woman admitted at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has passed away from the Covid-19 virus.

This is the 58th Covid-19 death in the Maldives spacing over a period of nearly one year. To date, 51 Maldivian nationals, 6 Bangladeshi nationals and a Filipino national have passed away from the virus in Maldives.

As of today, Maldives has recorded 17,507 positive cases of Covid-19 within the island nation. While 15,143 recoveries have been recorded Maldives just now recorded its 58th death due to the virus. HPA and health professionals urge the public to adhere to the guidelines set by the authorities to minimize the spread of the virus. HPA has recently extended the vehicle operation ban in Malé as well from 1800 to 0600.
