GDh. Atoll , Maldives — The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has removed the monitoring status from GDh. Thinadhoo effective today.
While Thinadhoo was placed under monitoring status on 7 February 2021, the Health Protection Agency has informed that having found no further reason to extend the monitoring status, decided to lift the monitoring status in GDh. Thinadhoo from February 17.
The Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) confirmed that there will be no restriction in entering and exiting the island as the monitoring status has been removed from the island.
Thinadhoo was placed under monitoring after two individuals tested positive for Covid-19 who were a direct contact of the first case that was recorded in connection to the ‘Aviation Cluster’ recorded in Addu City.
Only two cases were identified from Thinadhoo island since then, of which one person was a participant of the training held at Gan, Addu City, while the other was a direct contact.
While the monitoring status in Thinadhoo has been lifted, HPA has extended the monitoring status and other restrictive measures imposed on Addu City, as they are currently conducting random sample testing to confirm whether there has been a community spread in the city. Addu Emergency Operation Center (AEOC) informs that the results of the random samples taken so far does not imply of a community spread in Addu City.
