Malé, Maldives – Minister Mohamed Maleeh Jamaal has criticised the Former President and current Speaker of the Parliament of Maldives Mohamed Nasheed saying that he is saddened by how autocratically Nasheed runs the Parliament.

Speaking during the third opportunity granted to him to justify himself over the case of no confidence, Minister Maleeh said that how the things are happening at the Parliament today, is unlawful. He noted that while two hours was allocated for the debate over the no confidence motion against Minister Maleeh, the debate stretched for over three hours.

Following Maleeh’s statements, Speaker Nasheed asked the Counselor General as to whether there is anything unlawful going on at the Parliament. He added that the time is allocated by the machine. Minister Maleeh then said that he wants to see how much time the machine has recorded to which Nasheed did not grant the opportunity.

Maleeh during his speech, also questioned the Speaker whether he would get even 10 minutes for his speech as many MDP Parliamentary Members were raising points of order during his speech. Nasheed said that he would indicate as to when the Minister should speak and not speak.

Minister Maleeh further went on to criticise the Speaker saying that he is deeply saddened by how autocratically Nasheed runs the Parliament, to which several MDP Parliamentary Members raised points of orders.

Maleeh has been removed from his position as the Communications Minister with a majority of 59 votes passing the no confidence motion.
