Fazeen appointed to Maldives Broadcasting Commission by Parliament

Male’, Maldives — The People’s Parliament of Maldives passes to appoint the journalist of local media, RaajeTV, Mohamed Fazeen to the Maldives Broadcasting Commission.

The President of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih sent a list of names to appoint to the broadcom commission of which, Fazeen, who was at the top of the list has been passed by the People’s Parliament with 55 votes in his favor. No member voted against Fazeen’s appointment.

11 members had applied to fill the missing members of the broadcom commission of Maldives. After interviewing all of these members, the members of the Independent Commission approved Fazeen along with former journalist of VTV, Shifza Musthafa. However, as Fazeen was passed with no votes against him, Shifza was not considered in the voting.

The Broadcasting Commission of Maldives was introduced in 2010 under the broadcasting law. The aim of the broadcasting law of Maldives is to provide independence in expressing thoughts, developing the country while protecting the religion, culture, politics and other national abilities of Maldives.
