3 people stabbed in Addu

Addu City, Maldives – Maldives Police Service has revealed that three people have been stabbed in Addu City in two different incidents.

The first stabbing was reported at 23:30 in Hithadhoo where a young man was stabbed and the other two people were stabbed in Maradhoo. According to the information received by ‘The Times of Addu’, a 20 year old and a 26 year old were stabbed in Maradhoo. All three of them had been taken to Addu Equatorial Hospital for treatment.

While no further details has been given by police, both cases are being further investigated. These three stabbing come while two gang fights had also taken place in Addu earlier this week.

The fight took place in Feydhoo, near the district children’s park, which left 7 injured. It was reported around 18:30 of March 12, 2021, and Maldives Police Service revealed that the conflict was between two groups of Feydhoo. Police had previously revealed that five people have been arrested following the gang fight in Feydhoo. 

Another fight took place in the city the same night a little after midnight, during the early hours of Friday, which resulted in an individual being hit on the head with a machete. The individual is reported to have gotten injured from the attack, but had left the scene on a motor cycle. This incident took place in Hithadhoo, on the main road, near Masjid al Taqwa (Hussain Moosa Mosque).
