Malé, Maldives – Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced that they will be starting the second round of administration of the first dose of Covid-19 vaccination tomorrow in Greater Malé Area.
According to HPA, Chinese made Sinopharm vaccine which was approved to be used in Maldives on March 15, 2021 will be used in the second round of vaccination in Greater Malé Area.
Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine is an inactivated vaccine, produced by a Chinese state-owned company, named Sinopharm. At present, Maldives has 18,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine ready for use in the country, with additional 200,000 doses pledged by China.
Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) is also administering the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine in special circumstances, including emergency situations and for travelers who received the first dose and will not be able to return for the second dose within eight weeks due to traveling reasons.
The number of individuals who have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in the Maldives has reached 218,645
