Covid-19: Island cases reach all time high with 207 positive cases

Male’, Maldives — The Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) has revealed that currently there are 207 active Covid-19 cases present among the atolls of Maldives.

While speaking at the press conference that was held last night, the Head of the Atoll Preparedness team, Abdullah Mauroof informed that there are currently 207 active Covid-19 cases among the atolls of Maldives and that seven islands are under monitoring status due to the active cases.

Mauroof noted that this is the first time the number of active Covid-19 cases has increased upto 270 in the atolls of Maldives since the virus outbreak took place in Maldives.

According to Mauroof, the most number of confirmed positive cases have been recorded from HA. Baarah with 36 positive Covid-19 cases and 217 contacts traced so far. HEOC informed that till date 240 samples have been taken related to the aforementioned cases.

On the other hand, 23 people tested positive for Covid-19 in N. Lhohi from which the health officials have traced 190 contacts so far. 240 samples were also taken from N. Lhohi.

The remaining islands with increase in the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases consist of HA. Dhihdhoo with 15 positive cases, Kudahuvadhoo with 22 positive cases and 07 cases so far found from AA. Thohdhoo. Along with this, HEOC informed that there are active cases in, D. Meedhoo, AD. Fenfushi, HD. Kulhuduffushi and Nilandhoo as well.
