Male’, Maldives —The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced that they have made arrangements for the citizens to check the vaccination queues at three vaccine centers of Male’ City to prevent congestion and long queues.

HPA has received multiple complaints over extremely long queues and waiting times. As a solution, the agency has made arrangements for people to check the status of the queues online before physically going to the centers.

Currently, the online checking method is only available for three vaccine centers in in greater Male’. They are the National Art Gallery, Social Center, and the Hulhumale’ Vaccination Center. These centers are currently administering the second dose of the Covishield vaccine from 21:00 to 23:45 in the month of Ramadan.

HPA detailed that the citizens can check the queue status by scanning the QR code on their respective token upon which they will see details of the token number which is being served at the moment and the number of people that are waiting ahead.

The vaccination centers that are currently at the capital Male’ area are:

  • Social Center: 21:00 to 23:45
  • National Art Gallery: 21:00 to 23:45
  • Parliament: 21:00 to 23:45
  • Hulhumale’ Vaccine Center: 21:00 to 23:45
  • Vilimale’ Youth Center: 21:00 to 23:45
  • Senahiya: 21:00 to 23:45

While the vaccinations were initially scheduled to be carried out from 21:00 to 23:00 in Ramadan, the health authorities has recently extended the time to finish at 23:45 due to the long queues.

As of April 17th, the Maldives has vaccinated a total of 279,302 people the first dose and 40,230 people with the second dose of Covishield vaccine.
