Covid-19: 30 fully vaccinated individuals test positive in Maldives

Malé, Maldives – Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) said that 30 individuals who completed both doses of the vaccine tested positive and are currently being treated for Covid-19.

Speaking at last night’s press conference, Dr.Ibrahim Afzal said that 2.3 percent of vaccinated people have tested for Covid-19 till now. He noted that majority of this are people who have completed 4 weeks after receiving the first dose.

Dr.Afzal further noted that while 91 individuals who received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine were treated at Hulhumalé Hospital, 30 individuals who completed both doses of the vaccine are currently being treated for Covid-19.

91 of the 160 patients admitted at Hulhumalé Hospital are those who have received the first dose of the vaccine. While 30 of them have received both doses of the vaccine, 69 of the patients have not been vaccinated for Covid-19.

HEOC revealed that number of people who received both doses of the vaccine has surpassed 100,000.

While Maldives recorded the highest number of daily Covid-19 cases since the pandemic hit the tiny island nation with 734 cases yesterday, the total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in the country has reached 32,665 out of which 25,473 patients have made full recoveries, as of 18:00 of May 5, 2021. Currently the total number of active cases in the country stands at 7,109.
