BREAKING: Maldives records 95th Covid-19 death

Malé, Maldives — The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has reported that an 81 year old Maldivian male brought to HMF was declared dead at 02:38, this morning.

This is the 95th COVID-19 death in the Maldives.

While Covid-19 cases has been on a rise recently, Maldives has recorded over 1,000 daily cases for the past four days with 1,007 cases recorded yesterday as well.

According to HPA, the figures include 821 cases from the past 24 hours and the remaining 186 cases were from backlogged samples.

In the statistics released by HPA, it was detailed that out of the 1,007 cases, 793 were from the Malé area, while 183 cases were recorded from inhabited islands. The figures also included 26 case from operational resorts and 05 cases from liveabord which brought up the total active cases in the country to 15,666.

With this, the total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in the country has reached 43,782 out of which only 28,013 patients have made full recoveries, as of 18:00 of May 15, 2021.
