Addu City, Maldives – Additional eight people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Addu city today.
Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH) had revealed that while 08 more people tested positive for Covid-19 today, the total number of positive cases recorded in Addu City has risen to 107. From the total positive cases, 296 direct contacts have been identified so far.
From the statistics revealed by AEH, there are total 32 cases from Hithadhoo, 01 case from MaradhooFeydhoo, 07 cases from Feydhoo, 55 cases from Hulhudhoo, 11 cases from Meedhoo and 01 case from Shangri-La Villingili Resort & Spa.
Addu Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) had announced that curfew imposed in Addu City would be extended from 18:00 to 04:00 for a week starting from May 13, 2021.
According to Mayor Sodiq, during curfew times, going out in public and the operation of any vehicles on the road is prohibited.
Further restrictions imposed also stated that going out in groups of more than 3 is also not allowed under the new guidelines, and that when out, masks are always mandatory in the region.
According to the Mayor of the City, Abdullah Sodiq (Sobe), the decision has been made with consideration to the fact that there may be a possible community spread in the city.
Apart from this, dine-ins and operations of roadside food stalls, as well as hair saloons has also been suspended, with only delivery allowed for restaurants and cafés. However, he revealed that shops will be open as per the Health Protection Agency (HPA) guidelines during this time.
