Malé, Maldives — The fire that broke out at a residential building in Malé city, Ma. Morning View has been controlled by MNDF and the individuals who suffered in the incident have been treated at the IGMH hospital.
While the Police are carrying out investigations to find out the cause of the fire, the scene was visited by the Mayor of Malé city, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the Defence Minister of Maldives, Mariya Didi.
Minister Mariya inspected the work done by the fire fighters and cleared out information regarding the incident.
The people displaced by the fire are to be moved to guesthouses by National Disaster Management Authority at present according to local news.
The Member of the Constituency of Machchangolhi South Constituency, Haitham Ahmed tweeted to inform that he was with the families and that they are in utter need of help to overcome the incident they have gone through.
For those who wish to donate clothes and other necessities, MP Haitham said to donate to the account of Mohamed Himad.
The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) informed that at approximately 5:00 in the morning they were reported that fire has broken out in the third floor of a house named MA. Morningview in Malé city.
Three individuals were inside the building when the fire broke out, although they managed to escape the scene, MNDF informed that they had all suffered minor injuries during the incident.
While 56 people were evacuated from two buildings, they include minors under the age of 17 and 18.
The National Disaster Management Authority of Maldives reports that 32 people from 5 families are displaced due to the fire and have been provided temporary shelter at Ghiyasuddin School. The authority is working to move the families to temporary accommodation.
The cause of the fire has not been revealed yet.
