Malé, Maldives – Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has given an extension on the payment period for income tax payments.

MIRA stated that the last date for income tax payment will be August 31 and that interim statement and interim payments can be submitted until September 31.

MIRA stated that the payment period on income tax was extended due to difficulties face by tax payers in submitting the payment due to the current Covid-19 restrictions. They also stated that tax payers can obtain services through “MIRA Connect” now.

MIRA encourages all tax payers and those seeking other services from the institution to obtain services online. Maldives is currently going through the worst wave of Covid-19 to hit the island nation since the pandemic started last year. Medical experts encourage the public to strictly adhere to protective guidelines and stay at home to minimise the spread of the disease as much as possible.
