JUST IN: 15 students from AAA change to higher education loans

Malé, Maldives – Student loans of 15 students enrolled at the Asian Academy of Aeronautics (AAA) has been changed from Bank of Maldives to higher education loans.

Higher Education Ministry stated that according to the decision of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, no interest will be charged on any of these higher education loans taken by the students. In addition to this, students are to start repaying the loan 6 months after they have finished their course.

The Ministry has previously also changed the repayment date to 6 months after providing proof of finishing the course, upon the request of 96 AAA students.

Many complaints have recently come from students of Addu flying school which resulted in several measures to be taken by the government. This includes giving the students who have Bank of Maldives loans to change their loan to Higher Education loans. Discussions were also underway for the flying school to be managed by a Maldivian college.
