Malé, Maldives – Chairperson of MDP Hassan Latheef said that it must not be assumed that the attempted assassination against Former President and Current Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed on May 6 is not related to MMPRC corruption.
The statement from Hassan Latheef was made during last night’s MDP Steering Committee meeting following the terror attack on May 6. A Parliamentary member revealed an audio of Speaker Nasheed speaking about MMPRC corruption at last night’s meeting.
Following this audio, Hassan Latheef said that he has carefully listened to the audio of Speaker Nasheed talking about the MMPRC corruption and that we must not assume that the bombing on May 6 wad independent of the MMPRC case.
What i am saying is not related to that case. However, we cannot consider this as something that can be put aside.

While Hassan Latheef made the statements, the most recent tweet from Speaker Nasheed was also about the MMPRC corruption. He tweeted that the Parliament has received the full list of those involved in the MMPRC corruption.
The police is currently investigating into the terror attack against Speaker Nasheed. Five people have been arrested so far in relation to the case, all of whom indicate radicalisation. The police is working with foreign authorities to investigate the case.
