The Azzurri begins the Euro 2020 with an easy win against Turkey.

Opening match took place in Olimpiaco Stadium in Rome, where Italy hosted Turkey. Italy was always the favorites of the group and they didn’t disappoint as the game ended 3-0 for the Azzurri, famous nickname for the Italian football giants.

The first half ended without a goal, but Italy was in control of the match from the start. Turkey had assembled in a great defensive manner which was tough for Italy to penetrate in the opening half. With Giorgio Chiellini’s strong header saved and Lorenzo Insigne’s curler in front of goal going wide, nothing major happened in front of either goal keepers.

However, tides changed in the second half. Italians became more ruthless. Eight minutes into the second half, Italy took the lead from a goal conceded by Turkish Defender Merih Demiral.

Ciro Immobile increased their lead shortly after the own goal, firing home a loose ball pouncing onto him the penalty area. Before the game was down to the last 10 minutes, Lorenzo Insigne scored a beauty, curled into the far corner successfully to give the 3-0 lead.

The second match of the Euro 2020 will be played today at 1800 hours local time. Azerbaijan’s Baku Olympic Stadium will host Wales and Switzerland, another Group A battle. Two matches of Group B will also be played tonight as Denmark VS Finalnd will kick off at 2100 hours and at midnight Belgium will play against Russia.
