Covid-19: Hithadhoo situation worsens; measures to be strengthened!

Addu City, Maldives – With the situation of Addu City, Hithadhoo deteriorating yet again, authorities are discussing the strengthening of already existing precautionary measures against Covid-19 in the city.

This reportedly comes following a number of additional random samples coming back positive today, just a day after a huge cluster of 23 expatriates was discovered from the district.

Subsequently, the Mayor of Addu City, Ali Nizar cautioned the people of Addu against having workers come in for domestic chores during this time, as contact tracing efforts are underway to determine the extent of the spread.

Although authorities aimed to ease some of the measures as numbers decreased in the city, the newly discovered cluster has to put halt on the matter all together.

Currently there are 71 active cases of Covid-19 in the city, out of a total of 347 cases. With this, 274 recoveries have also been recorded in the city; however, with two unfortunate deaths in relation to the infection.
