Addu City, Maldives – Local media ‘adduLIVE’ has reported that due to the deteriorating Covid-19 situation in the Hithadhoo district of Addu City, a decision has been made by authorities to place the district under a strict lockdown.
As further details pertaining to the lockdown are expected be announced during the special press to be held by Addu Emergency Operation Center (AEOC), tonight, the decision is likely to be due to the newfound clusters and increasing cases in the city.
According to the Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH), there are 63 active cases of Covid-19 in the district, of which, 20 cases were recorded just yesterday alone.
As additional measures are to be implemented, the current preventive measures applied to the whole city are likely to resume, such as the curfew which extends from 16:00 to 04:00.
