Covid-19: 4 new cases recorded from Hithadhoo!

Addu City, Maldives – Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH) has revealed that four new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Hithadhoo, Addu City today. 

While all the four new cases were from the Hithadhoo district, three of them were locals and one was a foreigner.

With todays cases the total number of positive cases recorded in Addu City reached 450, out of which 131 cases remain active. Contact tacing efforts have identified, 358 direct contacts related to the postive cases so far.

AEH also revealed that from the active cases, a total of 127 are in Hithadhoo and 04 cases in Maradhoo.

Till date, 317 patients made full recoveries in Addu City.

The increased cases came from a cluster with over 17 confirmed cases identified in the Hithadhoo district on June 13, 2021. 

Following the identification of this cluster, the Mayor of Addu City, Ali Nizar cautioned the people of Addu against having workers come in for domestic chores during this time, as contact tracing efforts are underway to determine the extent of the spread.

Mayor Nizar announced a full lockdown on Hithadhoo district of Addu City from June 17, due to the deteriorating Covid-19 situation.
